I was skeptical of a Wild West Cthulhu because I never heard one before, but I quickly found this as one of my top 3 scenario favs. I think I might like to change my 100th ep fav character vote to Shannon's Curley! Is it too late? :) Be sure to give him an honorable mention.

This is great work guys. It feels just ... right somehow. Like an old-fashioned straight up classic scenario. I liked it as much as Mr. Corbett's House and you changed my mind about the setting. Great job Jim. Can't wait for the rest.

Much appreciated, thanks. This scenario - so far - seems to have struck a chord with people. There's a fair bit of discussion on it (and Curly!) over at the MuP forms as well. There's still quite a bit more to come, hope you enjoy it!

Thanks, Logar. I guess I'll have to do Curly at least one more time in that game as I am really a once month type of player in the group.

Where is this MuP link? Heh.

P.S. Nvm, Jim. Found it. I'm that good or at least Curly thinks he is.

Before I started listening to this podcast, I started dabbling into the western genre for writing research if I wanted to head that direction for writing. I read a western, The Trailsman #325 Seminole Showdown – Jon Sharpe; watched a western, The Quick and the Dead – Louis L’Amour; and finally listened to a western; Big Sky Country – Skype of Cthulhu.

At the moment it is not looking like a direction I want to take. But maybe if I write a fantasy and time warp it to the western genre.

Since it is a western, we are going to have to do, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

The Good- Awesome western song intro. For these special events, Jim has always seemed to find very appropriate intro music. Jim led the group through the adventure fairly well, yet they seemed a bit lost at times. The thing from the sky is reminding me of the movie, “Cowboys & Aliens.” Love those traits that the players have. Reminds me of the background traits from D&D 5th edition. Love Jim’s signature scream; very distinguished from episode to episode. Thanks Dan for the truth about Skype. “Skype, she is a fickle bitch.” LOL

The Bad- The overall feel of this episode really did not have a western feel. Maybe more western terminology, more player western accents, western sound effects, etc… I heard some later episodes that talked about the Curly Mosely character and he did not live up to the expectations of what was talked about him. Jim gets crème-puffy on the group by having the players make too many rolls to save their butts. Tsk… Tsk…

The Ugly- Should have had the 100th episode, since it was about an hour long, in its own little special episode. It was a good listen, but still its own section would have been better.

Cheers

Thanks as always for the feedback Jonathon. I also rather like the Gaslight traits, it's a interesting and quick way to develop some individual characterization.

Might I suggest you check out the novel The Sisters Brothers, by Patrick deWitt. An existential Western, and a very good read IMHO.
