079 - Dockside Dogs (One-Shot)

Skype of Cthulhu presents a Call of Cthulhu scenario, Dockside Dogs by Paul Fricker.

Yesterday
Somewhere

This was supposed to be a simple heist. A group of well-dressed criminals arrive at a warehouse to rendezvous after pulling off an extraordinary crime. They know each other only by their pseudonyms - Mister Black, Mister Green, Mister Beige, Mister Silver, and Mister Grey.

Hey guys, Mike here. Sorry I havn't really kept in touch. I'm trying to get caught back up with your exploits, though.

Loved this scenario, think I'm going to pick it up and run it myself some time.

From the original script, which I didn't include for copyright purposes:

MR. PINK
Why can't we pick out our own
colors?

JOE
I tried that once, it don't work.
You get four guys fighting over
who's gonna be Mr. Black. Since
nobody knows anybody else, nobody
wants to back down. So forget it,
I pick. Be thankful you're not
Mr. Yellow.

Thanks for listening Paul, this was a fun scenario. And kudos to Jonathan for being one of the very few of us who can manage to run a one-shot in ... you know ... one shot.

Wow!!! Another excellent adventure!!!

After seeing the name of this adventure and the Dramatis Persone, I knew I had to re-watch the 21 year old movie, Reservoir Dogs, before listening.

Great job by a new Keeper, Jonathan, even though his name is spelled wrong -> see spelling of my name below... LOL

It was interesting at times how Jonathan just sat back and the players were running the game without him. Way Cool!!!

I did have to listen to this one several times since the quick talking and moving around seemed a bit confusing and then shot here, shot there, why, why, why... But if you watched Reservoir Dogs, you get the gist.

I loved the line and how it was said by the player when they looked in the van, "What does the boss need with a first aid kit?" LOL

Also interesting how Jonathan used English language to describe American items. "There is someone in the boot." How long did someone listening to the podcast try to figure out what the heck is a boot? Was there someone is someone else's boots? LOL

Well enough of my one-shot fixes, time to get back to a big full adventure (15+ hours) and the beginning Keeper, Jim.

Cheers

Thanks as always for listening Jonathon, glad you enjoyed it. This is certainly a very popular scenario, I know it's gotten a lot play over the past year or so at conventions and so forth. I was very glad Jonathan pulled it out for us.
